Marxism 2010

This weekend Marxism 2010 hits Copenhagen. Me and my flatmate just recieved the edited version of the programme and I am happy to inform you (Juhan, Tabita and others who might be interested) that the whole thing will start with a reading called "Womens Lib. and Queer" - very exciting, I cannot wait to get challenged academically this weekend! Let's all meet there, it'll be great!

Nobody Passes Perfectly

Today, I've been watching Nobody Passes Perfectly. It's a Danish documentary about gender identity. We follow a Danish transsexual man and a person in a lesbian relationship, who is in the process of transformation. The film expresses a lot of interesting thoughts and ideas on the subject of gender. There are many beautiful and pure scenes and stills. I liked the music, though it was kind of sad. I think I'd like to be in a relationship like the one the two in the last picture have - I'm not thinking of their gender, but of the way they talk to each other and are together.

Queerfestival '10

Last week I went to the queer festival here in Copenhagen. Unfortunately, I didn't spend the whole week because I had to work. I went to a very interesting workshop about how mothers treat their children differently depending on the gender of their child. The atmosphere at the festival was great and people were kind, tolerant and fabulous. Especially the latter at the prom; I don't think I've ever seen as many happy, lovely and shining (literally shining, because of all the sequin dresses) people. There were a fun cabaret, oil wrestling, workshops, a fab dressing room, awesome prom and delicious vegan food. I am definitely going back next year!

We're here, we're queer, give us a light beer!
