Over the Edge

Okay, these days I'm very into coming of age/teenage rebellion films, and a few days ago I watched "Over the Edge", a film thats been lost somewhere under my bed for a couple of months (such a slacker I am). Directed by Jonathan Kaplan (he mainly does Tv-drama-crime-series), starring a very young Matt Dillon (the outsiders etc. etc.) and Michael Eric Kramer. Magnificent soundtrack, mainly by Cheap Trick, whom I don't really know...
Anyway it is a classic, a must see, about teenagers rebelling against their concervative parents, getting drunk, getting stoned and trashing the school. It is not a comedy, it is very gripping and sad and makes the viewer want to run away from everything and/or ruin stuff for all the snotty grown-ups.
Fuck patriarchy and fuck the patriarchs!
PS. Matt Dillon was such a sexy kid!

Sommaren med Monika

"Sommaren med Monika" ("Monika, the story of a bad girl") is a very nice film. It's made in 1953 in Sweden. Ingmar Bergman really manages to use the beautiful scenery to create a special atmosphere, for instance by letting the to young lovers float around on the boat in silence for several minutes. Some might find that boring, but I think it's great. Harriet Andersson (Monika) is a very fine actress, she reminds me very much of Ronja Røverdatter. Lars Ekborg in the role of Harry, the young, quite nervous boy, who falls in love with Monika, is good too. They're both very smooth! All in all it's a very lovely and tender film, and especially the first half is very cheerful. As you can see on the last picture, it was considered very naughty and bad in America, and was pioneering regarding nudity in films, it was also a precursor to the phenomenon "the Swedish sin".

Shake it up baby!

Spend most of this weekend in bed watching TV - which was nice! Wathced "Tro, Håb og Kærlighed" ("Twist and shout"), a danish movie from 1984. It's about two boys, Bjørn and Erik, in the 60's. Mostly Bjørns love life and Erik's relationship with his mother. I really liked it - except for a gross abortion scene, which is way to long!
