Lesbian Teen-flicks part. 1
I am currently watching a lot of teenage flicks about lesbian love, and I think that this might be my favorite film genre. the first one I want to talk about is "The Incredibly True Adventures of Two Girls in Love" from 1995, directed by Maria Maggenti. Starring a very young and VEEEEERY hot Laurel Holloman (Tina from the L Word). This film is about Randy (Holloman), a scruffy young highschool girl who works at a gas-station, listens to rock music and has a fling with a married woman. She starts talking to the popular girl Evie (Nicole Ari Parker) and they eventually become lovers. The plot is about Evie's struggle to come out, the social differences between Randy and Evie's respective families, and the hot lesbian sex that they, in my opinion, have way too little of.
This is a cute film, it is not provocative in any way, which can be both good and bad, I liked it a lot and it changed my perception of Laurel Holloman for the better.
oh and I really want Randy's haircut!

Today's song

These days I listen to mainly pop music since my new flatmate is very much into mainstream pop culture - I was preparing to make a couple of christmas decorations and listened to soundtrack to "Bridget Jones's Diary" and suddenly this song came and I remembered how good it really is and how lovely she is (her voice is gorgeous!). Rosey - "Love", Enjoy!

Sisters unite!
Hello everyone, and happy International Women's Day! Today we've demonstrated together with a lot (though, not enough) of Danish women and men. It was very nice, with good music, but it was slightly cold. Just wanted to mark this day and wish y'all a great day on the International Women's Day's 100 years anniversary!- Juhan

Oh Adam

Finally we got to see him at Loppen in CPH, which was absolutely beyond belief and fantastically, juicily amazing. We fuckin' love this dude. He dances beautifully and looks a treat with his body all covered in sweaty leather and velvet goodness.

Jeff'n'Barbra

"The mirror has two faces" directed by Barbra Streisand, soundtrack composed by Barbra Streisand, starring Barbra Streisand and the lovely Jeff Bridges ("Men who stare at goats" and also the Dude). A quirky love story about an intentionally sexless relationship and marriage between two university proffesors. It is, I believe, the ultimate feel-good film, mainly because of the amazing acting, plot and the fact that one can actually feel the spirit of Barbra in the room when watching it. Ab-Fab.

Eagle vs. Shark

I absolutely, totally and utterly adore this film! It's funny and sweet and a bit werid. Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) plays Jarrod brilliantly. He's this greeky, depressed man, who prepairs to fight the guy, who used to bully him in school. Lily, played by Loren Horsley, is a quite insecure girl, who lives together with her brother. The film is from New Zealand and directed by Taika Waititi. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. The soundtrack's great especially "Lily's theme". You should definately watch it!

Trrreat me like a fool

I am having a very hard time describing this film, Its been a month since I watched it, and tonight I feel i am ready to watch it for the second time. This is the most amazing film I've ever seen. David Lynch's "Wild at Heart" with Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern ("Blue velvet" and "Jurassic Park" - lovely cocktail). Cage is amazing, so's Dern, it has the absolute best erotic scenes I've ever witnessed in a non-pornographic film, but why wouldn't it, after all its Lynch. I can't talk more about it, it would spoil everything. Lovely Lovely Lovely!

Love in Detroit

Another film from the vault. I have never watched it before although I've had it in my collection for quite a while. "True Romance" is written by the lovely Quentin Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott (Domino, Enemy of the state etc.) with Patricia Arquette and Christian Slater. It is the story of a callgirl who falls deeply in love with a costumer and together they begin a wonderfully violent journey. This film has some very hot sex scenes, some fantastic outfits (mainly those worn by Alabama, Arquette) and some cool scenery. Incidentally the idiom "something must be rotten in Denmark" is used on several occasions throughout the film, which makes us feel all happy and silly.
(It also features his highness Gary Oldman as wannabe rasta pusher'n' pimp Drexl, and Brad Pitt in the role as stoner roommate Floyd, which was nice)
I feel that this is a must-see!

Carmen

Yesterday we went to Malmö in Sweden, and to the Malmö Stadsteater Intiman to see the play Carmen staged by Kajs Giertz, and interpreted by professional dancers, an operasinger and some actors. My swedish is not perfect but I understood quite a lot of it. They used the original music by George Bizet, only with swedish lyrics. It was very very good I thought, I love crossdressing, dancing and spanish dresses, and the play had it all.

Australian Lovelies: Strange Planet

I had a wonderful, yet hungover time yesterday watching "Queer as folk 2" (UK), "Strange Planet" and "Sliding Doors" (we love John Hannah!).
Strange Planet (1999) has been forgotten, rather unfairly I think, and thus it is time to mention this incredibly sweet film. It is directed by Emma-Kate Croghan, whom I do not know anything about, since I am not very geeky upon the subject of Australian pop-culture... yet.
It is a story about three women and three men and their many, many problems with their respective lovelives. The film begins and ends at new years which made it very appropriate for watching yesterday.
I feel that this film is a bit more complex than other romantic dramas or comedies. I am not saying that this is an artsy film though, it just has a different and interesting twist/quality to it, and it does not cease to be realistic (in contrast with other romantic comedies way of glorifying single and/or married life).
It is one of my favourite movies because it is hopeful and has possibly the tackiest ending in the world. Lovely.
Starring in this film are three very beautiful ladies; Claudia Karvan, Alice Garner (I love love love her!) and Naomi Watts.
Unfortunately what happened to the "Ghost World" movie cover has happened to Strange Planet as well - Naomi Watts, who is not the main character, but merely one of 6 main characters, has been placed in focus because of her popularity in Hollywood. I hate that, I really do, although placing Scarlett Johanson in the front of the "Ghost World" cover is more of a crime than the Naomi Watts stunt.
That aside, this is a lovely film for the gigglish, and also for those hopeful romantics, and as seen above, I found the proper cover.
Incidentally this film has some rather quirky film-references that are worth noticing. De Niro in "Taxi Driver" is not only mentioned but also impersonated by one of the male characters, and scenes from the 1959 series "The Twilight Zone" are used for the purpose of making a point about life and fate and that sort of thing.
Lovely film.

Gok Wan
Every now and then one is reminded that Gok Wan is... ab-fab to the max. I own his "How to look good naked" book and can proudly call it my bible. Everything about Gok and his mission to help promoting a healthier body image is so incredibly necessary, and we absolutely totally and utterly adore him. On Gok's webpage many interesting facts can be found and one should really read what's on the loveliest of lovelies' mind. Incidentally the Gokabulary is not only hilarious it is also very helpful. Hurray for bangers, muffin tops and gorgeous, wobbly people!
Here's a clip from Ramsays "Cookalong" with some very witty and hot flirting between Gok and Gordon.
Quote from Gok Wans meeting with Jonathan Ross:
GW: ...and also I love women. I don't want to be a woman, I don't want to sleep with women, I just love the female body. So, and that's where it comes from. So when I see a nice juicy arse...
JR: MMMMmmm.
GW: I don't want to cover it up.
JR: nor me.
GW: with long... yeah, what would you like to do with it?
JR: smack it!

Boom, she's so hot she's like a curry

Hey, so, we love Flight of the Conchords! Watched it for the first time last christmas, and bought the first season in the spring. I really like the songs and the characters; it feels like they're my friends, Bret, Jemaine and Mel - God, I love her and her tongue! Notice how cute and tender the guys are in the third picture -ahh, lovely! Can't wait for the second season to be broadcasted in Denmark!Quote: "...Another way that love is similar to tape, that I've noticed, is sometimes it's hard to see the end. You search on the roll (search on the roll) you search on the roll, you search on the roll with your fingernails, again and again and again and again..." - Sellotape.
