Burlesque

Fab musical with Cher and Christina Aguilera. So much glitter and awesome costumes and music. It did have a lot of cheasy romatic scenes though.

The wonder that is Juhan's closet, part 3: business looks

This look is a very typical business look combined with the positure and attitude of the models from certain knitting magazines from th 90's.

This look is a bit more serious and androgynous. It says two things at the same time:
1) "Hello, my name is fabolous!"
2) "I'm a hard worker and a good teamplayer."
Don't be afraid to wear this on the job where the outfit will make you feel confident as well as a strong independent woman (who does not need to smoke).

The L Word

I am rather ill these days and therefore more or less homeward bound. Not doing anything really apart from smelling, watching random series. they've started broadcasting Skins season 3 on danish TV which is nice, apart from that I am, yet again, completely and utterly obsessed with the L word.
The american TV series about lesbians, it has the tackiest intro-tune ever but it also has Katherine Moennig in the role as Shane Mccutcheon. I am so in love with her. Also, in the role as Alice Pieszecki, dah-dum; Leisha Hailey. These are two incredibly fascinating characters, and oh it is HOT.
And thus I wiki'ed miss Hailey and read that she used to date K.D. Lang...whom I also love. So there. Things are fabulous.

Gotta Move

Edinburgh was fantastic, now I've returned with some new DVD's: "To Wong Foo thanks for everything - Julie Newmar", "Queer as folk US" (season 2) and "Y Tu mama tambien".
Here's a couple of pictures from
"To Wong Foo thanks for everything - Julie Newmar", a rather tacky but very fabulous story about three dragqueens ending up in a small redneck town. Starring Patrick Swayze, Wesley Snipes (Blade), John Leguizamo (the one that played Toulouse-Lautrec in Moulin Rouge) and the always lovely and very talented Stockard Channing (Rizzo in Grease, Tidy Endings). It is a bit too hollywood-cliché, but the costumes are fierce and the actors are quite good. Against "Priscilla - queen of the desert" this film doesn't stand a chance, but it's the kind of film that's good when you want to chill and be fabulous. Incidentally the stunning Rupaul appears shortly in the opening scene and there's a bit of Barbra on the soundtrack!
Lovely.

Best sing/dance scenes in films p.4: FOOTLOOSE

Okay, tis finally time to cut loose...FOOTLOOSE!
Kevin fucking Bacon dancing to Kenny pissing Loggins. (This does not mean that the "Footloose" dance scene of the film "Footloose" from 1984 directed by Herbert Ross is in fact the best dance scene of the film, it is, I believe, impossible to choose between the dance scenes of this film... we love 'the angry dance' and 'lets hear it for the boy' just as much)
Enjoy!

Ps: since the clip with Will and Kevin Bacon dancing footloose together has been removed from youtube, here's Will, Grace and the fabulous Sandra Bernhard singing "The Midnight train"

Best sing/dance scenes in films p.1: Michael and James

The wonderful film "Party Monster" based on the novel "Disco bloodbath" by one James st. James, about Michael Alig's club kids and the murder of drugdealer Angel. This is a wonderful scene where Michael helps James to feel better by dancing to Stacey Q's "Two of Hearts". (Macaulay Culkin and Seth Green - fabulous) enjoy.

Filthy

John Waters and his filthy world. "Pink Flamingos" (R.I.P Divine) "Polyester" "A dirty Shame" etc. I just felt the need to express my love for the man. unfortunately it seems to be impossible to buy "Pink Flamingos" on DVD in Denmark, alas, thus I must try and find it elsewhere. Another film that I am desperate to watch is "Cecil B Demented" also directed by his highness. "This filthy World" is a quirky and incredibly amusing show where Mr. Waters takes us on a journey through his career. I sat in front of my computer watching it and laughed my guts out, like a freak. This man has so much to say especially on the subject of faeces. Fabulous.

Jeff'n'Barbra

"The mirror has two faces" directed by Barbra Streisand, soundtrack composed by Barbra Streisand, starring Barbra Streisand and the lovely Jeff Bridges ("Men who stare at goats" and also the Dude). A quirky love story about an intentionally sexless relationship and marriage between two university proffesors. It is, I believe, the ultimate feel-good film, mainly because of the amazing acting, plot and the fact that one can actually feel the spirit of Barbra in the room when watching it. Ab-Fab.

How not to be Edward Cullen

I remember having a kinda-crush on Pattinson as Cedric Diggory when watching the fourth Harry Potter movie
, obviously Ron Weasley/Rupert Grint (drool) stole his thunder with his ...lovely arms and impressive facial expressions.

Last night I watched "How to be" directed by one Oliver Irving. I had expected that it would be borderline crap or just mediocre. It was not. It was witty and had a very interesting plot. It is about a young, dissatisfied man called Arthur who decides to spend his money on flying a canadian therapist to London, because Arthur wants to "get fixed" since he is weird and always unhappy. The angles are fantastic, the scenes are not 'hurried', we like it.
What I particularly liked about this very well-executed film was it's amazing portrayal of pretentiousness amongst younger people (aged 15-30...dunno). Letting the characters create their own 'intellectual' terms for things (Naïvity, Lesbitarianism) and mentioning people like Nietzsche ('Nietzeeee') is what is so sweet and fantastic about this movie. Arthur and his friends are hilarious and pathetic and I find that comforting.
Arthur (Pattinson) has a sort-of best friend called Ronny (Johnny White - I find him sexy) who, for me, was the most loveable character I've seen in a long time.
This film is actually kind of brilliant.

Ronny: "You know, what I love most about you Arthur is your naïvity (...) It would probably be advantageous if you could escape from structures (...) just try and escape from the consumeristic-materialisticness of it all."

Ronny: "I have a balance of self already and I also think I'm probably getting a migrane."

Nikki: "Like, you ever heard of that dude Nietzeee? had this amazing philosophy, basically saying that you go round London and you stick your dick in anything, yeah and the whole world just loves you for it for some reason."
