Burlesque

Fab musical with Cher and Christina Aguilera. So much glitter and awesome costumes and music. It did have a lot of cheasy romatic scenes though.

Greatest pop songs p.1

I rarely like contemporary pop music, since I usually find it hatefull. In my opinion the set-up of current popular mainstream music is hostile, sexist and just really vile. Artists such as Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Christina Aguilera etc. etc. have nothing constructive to say, their lyrics are about how special and fabulous they are, and the way the music is expressed, through videos, is just utterly self-centered, body-conscious and idealist. With that said, from time to time, mainstream culture produces a gorgeously written and brilliantly composed pop song that makes you feel happy and fluffy inside, which in my opinion, is what pop-music is all about. I will do a few posts presenting what I think are fantastic examples of great contemporary pop music - and by contemporary I mean pop from about 2005 up until now.
The first song is Sugababes "How I feel about you now", a song with a lovely and catchy sound and a positive message! This is one of my all time favorite pop songs, and I dare say that I very very raerely put a more current pop song on that list. enjoy.

Dating in the dark

Dating in the dark - brilliant! Very entertaning and silly tv-program. The two most important ingredients of this program:
1. dark rooms
2. superficial people
Concept: People dating in dark rooms and touching each others faces, playing games in the dark, talking, kissing and having great connection. And then when they finally get to see each other they're not interested any longer because the person didn't look the way they'd imagined.

Never forget!

So, If you've read some of our previous posts you might have noticed that we really love Take That. And in less than 7 months we are going to a concert with this splendid boyband. It's going to be so awesome!

Steinbeck

My flatmate is currently writing a big assignment for school, and she has chosen a topic very similar to the one I wrote. It is about the Great Depression and in that context she is reading one of my favorite books; "The Grapes of Wrath" by Mr. John Steinbeck. Now I do not read a lot of 'real' books because I am a slacker, but this is an amazing novel and I would recommend everyone with an interest in the 30's, the Depression, Social Realism or socialist struggle and anti-capitalism to read it.

Guitar Heroes

I recently started playing the guitar again, an instrument I haven't played properly for years. I'm completely hooked and I've spent several hours playing these last few days. Above are some pictures of my ultimate guitar heroes; KD Tunstall, Graham Coxon, Russell Senior(Pulp).
So far I've mastered "Augustine" by Patrick Wolf, "I'm a man you dont meet every day" by the Pogues, "Tror du det er let" by Ibens and several Graham Coxon songs.
I'd love to be able to do KT Tunstall's "Black Horse and a Cherry Tree" (the one from men in trees (Who-hooo)) and I'd love to be able to do a Cm chord, but my fingers are not being very cooporative.

90's

I love the 90's! The music, the clothes, the hair, the TV-shows and so on. Yesterday, I went to a 90's party at my school. It was pretty awesome. There were denim shorts, beautiful hairstyles, short t-shirts and colourfull leggings all over. The DJ's were kind of disappointing - only 50% 90's music and the rest was new, silly music like Lady Gaga, Nik and Jay and such. I'd have liked some more boy/girl band music.

Today's song

These days I listen to mainly pop music since my new flatmate is very much into mainstream pop culture - I was preparing to make a couple of christmas decorations and listened to soundtrack to "Bridget Jones's Diary" and suddenly this song came and I remembered how good it really is and how lovely she is (her voice is gorgeous!). Rosey - "Love", Enjoy!
