The Wonderful Works of French and Saunders

French and Saunders

Vicar of Dibley, Vicar Geraldine, Alice and Hugo, and the rest of the cast.

ab-fab, Eddy and Patsy

I feel it is time to talk about two of the worlds most brilliant comedians; Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders. The show "French and saunders" first aired in 1987 and in my opinion the ladies have mastered to keep up the high standards throughout. My favorite of the older sketches is this one called schoolgirls.Their fantastic as arrogant students, its hilarious. I love their parodies as well, particularly the ones on Björk, Boyzone, Cher and the ABBA film "Mama Mia".
Then there's "The Vicar of Dibley" with French in the leading role as Geraldine, the slightly smug Vicar of a small town called Dibley. the cast is hilarious particularly Emma Chambers (known from her role as the amazingly funny sister Honey in Notting Hill) who plays Alice Tinker the church's verger. She is very naïve and wears some amazing outfits. One of my favorite scenes from the series, it is the scene where Alice marries Hugo. This clip however is another hilarious bit about Alice wonderings upon the sibject of butter and the product called "I cant believe its not butter".
And last but not least "Ab-Fab". With Saunders in the role as drunken fashion victim no. 1, Eddy and Joanna Lumley as drunken fashion victim nr. 2 Patsy. Known for overusing the words "Sweetie" and "Darling", chainsmoking and bingedrinking, Patsy and Eddy are the perfect tv characters in my opinion (at times Patsy resembles "Will and Grace" character Karen Walker a bit). Julia Sawalha (known from BBC's "Pride and Prejudice" in the role as lydia, and also from the later episodes, and not quite as fantastic as the early ones, of "Jonathan Creek") plays the role of Eddy's daughter Saffy. Also Jane Horrocks ("Little Voice") plays Eddy's assistant Bubble, a character so utterly dimwitted and silly - lovely. Here's a clip of Patsy and Eddy being completely wasted and thinking a mobile is a shoe.
AB-Fab indeed.
