Berlin

http://www.barbiedeinhoff.de/gallery/opening-party.htm#

Berlin was awesome! We were staying in Kreuzberg, which is one of my favorite area, at a hostel called Die Fabrik. It was an old factory that had been made into a hostel. It was pretty cool with gigant doors and staircases. We spend most of the time walking around and drinking coffee on cafés. The stores were closed because of the holiday, but we went to two flea markeds and a lot of secondhand stores the last day. Sunday night we went out to a little bar down the street. It's called Barbie Deinhoff's (check out the gallery) and it's very kewl. I'll definately return to that bar! We also went to the DDR Museum, the new synagoge and a fantastically large chocolatier called Fassbender & Rausch. They had chocolate models of Brandenburger Tor, the Fernsehturm, the Reichstag and so on.
It was a great trip an I can't wait to return to this brilliant city.

I think my favourite German words are: Bitte warten it just sounds great!

Those are names I shan't forget p.1: Barbra Streisand

Ah, Procrastination. Instead of studying for final exams I decided to take a moment, just take a little time to honour a couple of formidable ladies. First things first. Barbra. I have tried for a about a year to express my feelings towards her in a letter, but it seems inadequate, I seem unable to express myself in words when it comes to Barbra Streisand. All I can say is that she makes it all right to be me and I am sure many other people feel the same way, Rosie O'Donnell for example. Pictures of Barbra in the 60's.

Legendary!

I have become obsessed with How I met your mother. I watch 2-6 episodes pr. day. And it's really awesome!!! I like the intro and the fact that it's all about Ted telling his children how he met their mother.
Tomorrow I'm going to Berlin so I have to watch a lot tonight so I don't get too needy - what up!
My English vocabulary is changing a bit, I am now saying (and thinking) "awesome", "legendary", "wait for it" and "what up" all the time! It's just awesome!
I find it very important to have a group of very close friends and a bar or café, where you always hang out.

Fancy dinner

A few days ago I got a sudden urge to cook for my sister and some friends. I ovenroasted some tomatoes with garlic and fresh thyme, and the stuff that looks a bit puky is some homemade pesto that I did. The tomatoes and pesto went on some fettucine. The salad consisted of rocula and squash and I tried doing the Balsamic-vinegar-caramel-dressing but it didn't go quite as planned, however it was still pretty good. On top of the salad were some homemade beetroot crisps. Also I made a quick potato-pizza with fresh mozarella and thyme, very basic, a bit too moist but it tasted great. and we had some wine.

Sew, a needle pulling thread

Yesterday, I made this dress. I was really bored and suddenly I got an urge to sew. So, I went and bought some fabric. I bought three times as much as I needed - as always- I can't seem to remember that there's always two layers. I'm considering making it a bit longer, but other than that I'm very happy about it.

Food and Marco Pierre White, genius

God this is so lame. I've been watching (and reading about) Marco Pierre White's cooking, and I am very amazed by his commitment and his passion for food (blah blah blah) and he's very sexy. But that's not the point. I REALLY don't like his attitude/arrogance in 'the great british feast' but at least he doesn't go and insult less succesful cooks like Ramsay does, which is good. So actually what I've been watching is the 'Marco at Harveys' or whatever it's called and I am in awe of this man because he manages to make food so much more than just something for you to stuff yer face with. Enough with the fangirl talk.
Tonight I experimented with creating patterns with a simple caramel based on vinegar and sugar. I saw Pierre White used a sort of caramel cage to decorate his deserts, which was aestetically absolutely gorgeous. However, since I'm not at all as interested in or impressed by pastry, meringues, ice cream and that sort of thing, simply because it seems to have a smaller range of visual possibility (It's probably not true but whatever), and because I've got more of a savoury than a sweet tooth, I figured I might try a different approach and try and create shapes and patterns in vinegar-caramel so that it could be used in salads and perhaps also on top of a steak if possible. It was my first try tonight and it looks a mess but I am very excited about the idea.
I'll post some pictures of my ovenroasted tomatoes soon.

Chillaxing

For the last couple of days I've been living at Andrae's. It was nice and chill. Short trip to Malmöe, vanilla pudding, Smack The Pony and we cut my hair - beauty!
Tonight I'm going to my friend Lærke's house. We're going to chill, watch TV and pack, cause tomorrow we are going to my summerhouse with some friends. It'll be fun.
Bought a CD with Alison Moyet the other day. Very spontaneous buy, but it was cheap and from the 80's. I really like her look and this video:

A few days ago we watched "Mamma mia" it was really silly and kind of gross, but also incredibly
funny. I especially liked the last scene with Colin Firth in a very tight yet smooth costume. Sorry about the poor quality of the picture, but it was the best I could find.

I am sorry about all the Colin Firth-spamming that's been going on lately!

Rollerskates!

Today's my birthday and my parents gave me really cool rollerskates! They are like these, but the wheels are black, red, green and blue. My friends are coming soon and we're gonna have pancakes with cream puffs!

I am hoping I'll be just as fab as this young lady:
